I grew up in Jamestown, RI with three younger brothers (two of them twins) and an older sister. I went to Portsmouth Abbey School for high school and ran on the track and cross country teams. I also payed ice hockey in the winter. I attended the University of Rhode Island and received a B.S. in Marine Biology. After undergraduate I moved to Norfolk, VA to attend graduate school in Dr. Ian Bartol's lab at Old Dominion University. I am currently working on my PhD and am studying cephalopod biomechanics. I did my first triathlon when I was 18 in Jamestown, RI. I went on to do a number of shorter triathlons in Rhode Island and in Bermuda when I studied abroad. I did my first 70.3 in 2009 and then my first IM in Florida in 2010. After breaking 10 hours and finishing first amateur female in Ironman Florida in 2011 I decided to take my elite card and train and race as a professional triathlete. I am currently in my second season racing as a professional.
