Brian and Rachel Jastrebsky
We are newly married and living in Chesapeake, VA with our fur kids Gunther and June. For the 2014 season, Brian will be continuing to race as a competitive amateur and is delving into endurance cycling. Rachel will be racing in her second pro season. Both of us race for Zoot Sports as our title sponsor. We have so many great people that support and encourage us so we wanted a way to keep everyone updated on what is going on with us in training, racing and life. About Us
Brian and Rachel met at a running group in Norfolk, VA at the Running Etc. store in 2010. Brian asked her out a few times but Rachel kept saying no. They did become really good friends that summer. Rachel was training for her first Ironman and after crashing on her bike in 2008 was nervous about riding outside. Brian, started doing all of her long rides with her. You get to know someone pretty well when you are out on a bike with them for 5 hours. They made a bet that (3 months after doing his first tri) Brian couldn't beat Rachel's PR in a half ironman...he did...and she had to bake him a pie. He ran the Marine Corp Marathon that fall with an hour and 20min PR of 2:55:18. They had gotten a lot closer by then, and a week after his marathon he drove to Panama City, FL to watch Rachel do her first Ironman. About 20 min after the race he asked her to be his girlfriend and in her weakened state ;) she agreed. A year later they both did Ironman Florida. They both won their age groups and Brian proposed to Rachel onstage at the awards ceremony. They were married October 6th, 2012 and a day after the wedding flew to Hawaii to race the Ironman World Championships for their honeymoon.
